Description:
A pentaprism is a five-sided reflecting prism used to deviate a beam of light by 90°. It has two important characters, firstly the beam reflects inside the prism twice, allowing the transmission of an image through a right angle without inverting it (that is, without changing the image's handedness) as an ordinary right-angle prism or mirror would. Secondly with the prism, a constant deviation angle applies to all rays transmitted by the useful aperture, regardless of the angles between these rays and the optical axis. So deviation is nothing to with prisms’ orientation.
Penta Prisms are used to define right angles in optical systems. Penta Prisms, which provide right handed images, feature a ray deviation of 90°. Penta Prisms are five-sided prisms are unaffected by slight movements. Bing Xin Optics offers a variety of Penta Prisms for optimal performance in the Ultraviolet (UV), Visible, or Infrared (IR) spectrums.
